The forgotten mothers of Kit Mikayi

Ladies In Action and the Klara Foundation team together carried on with the deworming the school children. But this time they also did wound cleaning and gave away cloths to little girls.

February 12th was completely different for the team. Chotu Pabari , Marja and Hennie together with Tobias visited ten old ladies all aged over 75 in Kit Mikai district.

Report from Hennie: Old ladies of Kit-Mikai (Second wife)

Kit MikayiOn Friday 13th February, Mr. Pabari, Tobias, Marja, and me, visited 10 old widows in the neighbourhood of Kit-Mikai. We surprised them with a little package and had a look in which way we can be of help on a longer term.

The packages contained 1 blanket, 2 dresses, 1 pair of slippers (flipflops) 1 pack of ugi flower, 2 pk thee, 1 pk salt, 1 cup of butter, 2 pc soap, 1 bx matches, 1 cup of vaseline.

Kit MikayiWe paid a visit to:

1) Mrs. Sulimena Asweto Osio, age approxomatly 80. She had 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters who all died. She doesn’t know how many grandchilderen she has, but nobody is really taking care of her. We agreed if possible to provide her (or her daughter in law so she can take care) with: – omena, sukuma- and/or tomato seedsKit Mikayi and a mattress (The roof of her hut was also in a pretty bad shape)

2) Mrs. Kilimentina Adiango, age approxomatly 80. She had 13 childeren, who all died. She has many grandchildren.

3) Mrs. Sirprosa Ndeda Ngeso, age approxomatly 90. She had 5 childeren, 2 sons and 3 daughters. She has many grandchildren. One of them cooks at the local school and keeps an eye on her. She is not able to walk.

4) Mrs. Saulina Owori, age 77. She had 11 childeren, 5 of them are still a live but don’t take care of her. Nor do her grandchildren. We agreed if possible to provide her with: – Sukuma seeds – Paraffin (for business).

5) Mrs. Mathilida Olowa, age approximately 90. She had 11 childeren, 2 of them are still a live but don’t take care of her. One of her grandsons lives close to her and takes care of her more or less. We want to provide her with: – sukuma- and/or tomato seeds. She has bad eyes and we want to send her if posssible to a medical-eye-camp.

6) Mrs. Masiliena Ngaka, age 68.She had no childeren. She was the second wife of the husband of the former widow. They agreed to share whatever we give them.

7) Mrs. Christina Olothio, age approxomatly 75. She had 1 son, who died. We want to give her some seeds.

8) Mrs. Rebecca Mabati, age approximately 70.She had no children and her husband died in 1980. We want to give her a matress, some seeds and paraffin (for business)

9) Mrs.Terresa Sika, age approximately 90. She had 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters. 1 son and 3 daughters are still a live and she has some grandchildren. We want give her some omena (for business) and seeds

Kit Mikayi10) Mrs. Domtila Awor, age approximately 80. Her children also already died. She is sick but there is a young lady from the neighbourhood who takes care of her. She is in need of a matress. And the young woman who takes care of her wants to sell paraffin, so she can use the money to nurse her.
